Green hospitality

As the Minnesota coordinator for Republicans for Environmental Protection, www.rep.org, I applaud the recently announced bicycle availability program for loaner bikes during the Republican National Convention and beyond ("Republican National Convention: 1,000 bikes will be ready to roll," May 10).

Thanks to Minneapolis Mayor R.T. Rybak, St. Paul Mayor Chris Coleman and the other sponsors and supporters. The many efforts underway to "green" the RNC will remain a positive legacy for all future Minnesota events, benefiting us all.

Republicans from around the United States are fortunate to be gathering in the Twin Cities region to experience Minnesota green hospitality. My 30 years as an environmental attorney confirm that conservation of our environment is everyone's responsibility.

Let's nurture the nonpartisan support for environmental protection that our businesses and environmental sustainability need and deserve.
